Pupils and staff at Wellingborough Preparatory School tucked into weird and wonderful dishes during healthy eating workshops on Friday 18th January, organised by school catering company Chartwells.
Chartwells' National Executive Chef, Andrew Walker, prepared a selection of exotic recipes including lemongrass ice, carrot sorbet and red pepper ice cream for pupils to try. Also on the menu were vegetable juices such as beetroot, apple and ginger and carrot and orange, stir-fried Chinese snake beans and exotic fruit.

The workshops, for pupils aged 8 to 13, followed an assembly presentation by Andrew and Chartwells' Nutritionist, Nicky Martin, focusing on the different food groups and the balance needed for a healthy meal.
The day was extremely entertaining and helped to show the children that healthy eating can be exciting and fun. It is hoped that following these tasting sessions, the children will think about how to eat well and be encouraged to experiment with new tastes and flavours.”
