'Hamlet' performance & workshop for Y8

The Young Shakespeare Company visited the School to give a two and a half hour workshop on ‘Hamlet’, to Year 8. As usual there were the doubters amongst the audience: those who believe Shakespeare is “boring”. How time flies when you are enjoying yourself! When it ended no one had anything but praise; the entire audience was thoroughly entertained – I had never realised how much one could laugh at a tragedy! The cast of five performed key scenes from the play and the children were encouraged to participate, whether by performing themselves or producing sound effects to create an atmosphere. Of added interest is the fact that the young actor who played Hamlet is an O.W.! What a great example he is to our budding young thespians.

You will see below a selection of photographs taken on the day.
