The WPSA is a committee of parents who have children in the Prep School. We are an enthusiastic and active group of parents and our aim is to organise social events where families can come together in a relaxed atmosphere. In organising these events we are able to raise funds for the school to help provide addition items to benefit the school and pupils. |
We welcome feedback about our events and are always very keen to have offers of help during these evenings. Below you can view pictures of events and find out what's happening.
SOCIAL
FAMILY FUN NIGHT - JUNE 09
The weather was kind again this year and once again we were sold out for this very popular evening. The event offers the opportunity for children to meet, have fun and partake of the sweet stall, whilst the parents, new and existing, have the chance to have a chat, meet new friends and enjoy the buffet, the wine and the very social atmosphere - a must for new mums, dads and children to get acquainted with members of the WPSA and everyone in the Prep School.

HORSEY HOPPER - 2009
Once again we had a fantastic evening of fun and bouncing!!!
With more jockeys this year we had a number of very close races and with some of the Adults trying to prove a point to their more agile children!! Needless to say the children won hands down.
Congratulations and medals went to Sam Brooke, who was the overall winner of the Championship with Ted Hicks coming a close second and Tom Pope in a well deserved third place.
In conjunction with the racing we were all able to ‘Bet’ on the jockey and horse we felt was going to win. Congratulations again went to Tom Pope who was obviously on a winning streak, who won the hire of a Bouncy Castle kindly donated by KLG Party Hire, who compared the evening. He was closely followed by Joshua Russell and Katherine Whatton, who tied for second place. They went home with their own bouncy hopper to practice their technique!
Thank you to all who supported our social event and assisted us in raising more funds for our playground project. We are hoping soon to be able to announce news of further developments and that pupils will be able enjoy the benefits that your hard work and support has enabled. Thank you to those families who continue to offer their time in supporting our endeavours.
A selection of photographs taken during the evening can be seen below….
CURRY EVENING
On the 19th March the WPSA transformed the Embankment Club into a scene from a Bollywood movie! A wonderful evening was enjoyed by all. Many of the guests had entered into the spirit of the evening and looked splendid in their Indian costumes. The Voujon Restaurant, from Wellingborough provided a fabulous three course meal. We were also entertained by three beautiful dancers who performed an impressive display of Indian dancing. Much more fun spending the evening with loads of friends in authentic costume, than our usual Friday evening ‘Take-Away’!
Once again we would like to thank all who supported us in our continued effort to raise funds for playground equipment.
FUNDRAISING
Over the past few years we have been able to respond to requests from many areas of the school for financial help. We have bought table tennis tables for the playground, a camera for the art department, a projector for the hall, new equipment for the chess club, a range of puzzles and gym equipment as well as a significant donation towards equipping the new library.
During the last two years we changed our fund raising focus to a major project – Improving the Playgrounds. Last year saw the installation of a traversing wall and floor markings for fitness and play. This area is used not only at break times but also during the children’s PE lessons. We have also recently purchased skipping ropes encouraging the children to play and keep fit at the same time!. The School’s Council, made up from a number of pupils in the Prep School, have been in discussion as to what items the children wish to see in their playground. After much discussion, we have sourced a number of items which we hope to install in the very near future.
We will be completing our focus on the Playground Project at the close of this academic School year. Our new aim for the forthcoming year will be to provide funds to purchase additional items that departments, within the school, feel will benefit our children’s education and environment.
