Little children learn best by doing. Those who join our nursery and reception classes benefit from broad and enriching experiences related to the world around them. Their busy, ‘hands-on’ days are filled with learning activities, outings and visiting experts, together with the all important opportunities for play and developing friendships. The foundations for literacy and numeracy are laid and creativity is encouraged.

By the age of 5, our pupils are already confident learners. We seek to nurture their curiosity and encourage them to ask questions to develop independent thinking. Children make rapid progress in basic skills and relish the opportunity to use their learning to widen their knowledge in a broad and balanced curriculum.

As pupils approach the time to move on to the Prep School at the age of 8, they are accomplished youngsters. Many will have taken up a musical instrument. Others may be in the sports teams or enjoy performing in the choir. All relish the frequent opportunities for drama. Most importantly, they will have learned values for behaviour which allow them to work together to achieve their potential, in a community with kindness and courtesy at its heart.
