The Themed Menu lunches at Chartwells are always a great success, but the 'Australia Day', on Tuesday, 26th January proved to be one of the best!  We were delighted with the response from the students who ate the food with great relish and returned to the counter for more of the delicious Sticky Spare Ribs!  The Bush Tucker Trial was especially appreciated by the students as 8 volunteers tasted the delights of Sheep's Eyeballs (Lychees), Spiders Eggs (Dragon Fruit), Crocodile Eggs (Quails Eggs), Tasmanian Devil Testicles (Pickled Walnuts), Kangaroo Pinkies (Jalapenos) and Frogs Spawn (Passion Fruit).  The crowd that gathered enjoyed the show and we would like to give special thanks to our volunteers for taking part.

Australia Day  -  Kiwi Quiz Tuesday 26th January

Today saw Chartwells, in conjunction with Wellingborough School, host Australia Day. This was in celebration of the anniversary of the First Fleet arriving in 1788.

Chartwells host theme days throughout the year to encourage and educate pupils to experiment with different textures and tastes of food from around the world. Today was no exception!

In line with the themed event, an Australian Quiz was devised to encourage learning and add an additional fun factor to the day. Pupils from the Prep School were given the quiz in advance and were asked to get together in teams of four and to submit their answers on the day. We were overwhelmed by the pupils’ response and enthusiasm. The quiz was also incorporated into the pupils’ history lessons.

The winners were treated to a visit to the Schools Costa Coffee shop, where they were awarded with Chocolate Fudge Cake, washed down with Hot Chocolate, not forgetting a traditional Aussie Hat complete with hanging corks!

This proved to be one of the best theme days yet with more to follow.
