The English Department is a thriving, core unit within the School.  Every child is encouraged towards a love of reading and a desire to express themselves with eloquence and precision, to the best of their ability.

We teach the English skills covered in the National Curriculum; however, we seek, in particular, to emphasise learning through the example of great literature, non-fiction and film.  From Year 6 pupils are set for ability but working with the Learning Support Department is also an important feature of our work.  Each year, every pupil is actively involved in drama; educational visits to the School and trips out are regular.

Above all, we hope to nurture in your children an enthusiasm for our language and its infinite variety, whilst simultaneously equipping them with the tools they will need to succeed in later life.
