Match Reports 23/09/17: Hockey
These are the match reports from last Saturday's hockey fixtures against Princethorpe and Oundle schools.
The First team also played Princethorpe on Saturday. After us being 3-1 up at half time the game ending 4:4 due to us switching off for a short spell in the second half. However we did have some great phases of play with Alice Tusting and Emilia Harper both showing great strength. Our goals were scored by Rosie Williamson, Bellsey Eccleston, Jess Morrica and Lucy Simms. It was a good game but a little frustrating to come away with a draw.
On Saturday, the seconds played Princethorpe. They had a great start applying pressure to their defence, nearly scoring twice. As the game went on, they continued to gel and had a few more chances at goal. However, in the second half Princethorpe were lucky and caught them on a break ending the game 1:0. Despite the score, this was the best the team have played so far with great performances from Ellie Garner and Sienna Sgoluppi.
Last Tuesday the 3rds played Oundle. The team were slow to start however, Alice Shoreland and Imogen Kerr were strong in defence whilst Lauryn Stoute and Louisa Nevison had some great attacking play. Although the game finished 3-0 to Oundle, they worked hard as a team and were proud of their overall performance.
On Saturday the U15 A team played against Princethorpe and won 3-2. We had a strong first half leading 2-0, thanks to some great goals from Ella Miles and Sophie Richardson, however we tired and conceded 2 goals in the second half. Fortunately a third goal was scored by Maisie Robinson to secure the win. Another great team effort with Tabby Cunningham awarded player of the match.
The U15 B team played Princethorpe school this Saturday and lost 3-0. Although no goals were scored on the Wellingborough side, there was some great play from hannah Stewart coming out of goal into a back, and Simran Johal along with Casey Hollyman making some great tackles. Player of the match was awarded to Phoebe Thomas.
On Tuesday the U15B team played against Quinton House and won 4-1. There was some great teamwork throughout the game, especially when it came to scoring goals. Player of the match was deservedly awarded to Georgia Louisiana-Wride for some excellent play.
On Saturday the U14A's played against Princethorpe college at home and unfortunately lost the match 1-0. They had a few chances at goal but could not manage to score. Well done to everyone who played.
U14B drew 1-1 - a fantastic performance marred by a last minute equaliser from the opposition. A great effort with some stand out performances from Emily-May, Ria, Emily (O'Connor) and Eliza. A fabulous first three matches from this team.
