Match Reports 11/11/17: Hockey and Rugby

These are match reports from last weekend's hockey and rugby fixtures against Northampton High School and Ratcliffe College.

U15A - played against Northampton High School and lost 2-1. We were unlucky with many opportunities missed. And whilst trying to push forward it was a break of play from the opposition which led to the first goal against us. However, after a regroup at half time we were able to score an equaliser. We continued to battle hard but unfortunately we conceded a second goal and were not able to match this before the full time whistle blew.

1st XV - secured a dominant victory over Ratcliffe College, outplaying then in all aspects, with tries coming from Joe Saxby, Sam Cattle, George Chapman, Conal Estop (2) from Harry Russell and 4 from Joe Roberts-Nuttal, with the end score 62-12.

2nd XV - played Ratcliffe College and won 22-5. We started perfectly with Sam Thomas chasing down the opening kick-off to run through the entire Ratcliffe defence and score after just 12 seconds. The game was very scrappy, because of the wet conditions, but a brilliant passage of offloading play with virtually the whole team involved led to Andy Magnus-George scoring our second try of the day. Johnny Clarke then took advantage of some good back play and a gap in the defence to score our third try of the first half. At half time we made lots of changes and the second half was not as good as the first. Ratcliffe scored a try with fifteen minutes to go to put them back in the game but Tal Bhavra scored under the posts with 10 minutes to go to seal the win.

U15A  - played Ratcliffe College away and after a strong start, we realised that if we went wide we would score more often than not. We never really looked back apart from a few lapses in concentration allowing for Ratcliffe to score. The game ended up 46-12 with try's from Nathan Metcalfe, Jack Buchan, James Brazier, Ollie Long and Will Eccleston. Well played to all and lets continue winning like this.

U14A - played Ratcliffe College and although again we were missing a few players due to injury and illness we still fought hard against a tough team to win 29-0.

U14B - It was a tough game for the under 14B’s against Ratcliffe and unfortunately lost 50-20 but played well with Oscar Davies scoring all 4 tries, but we do need to improve our tackling. In the end we played well as a team.
