House Singing 2024/25

News 25.09.2024 Whole School

On Thursday 19th September, we were treated to a fantastic afternoon of House Singing that was without doubt the highest standard in many years. Every House raised their game, not only in the quality of their singing and polished performances, but also their musical backing and colourful, imaginative outfits. Each song was a foot tapper and it was a vibrant, and eclectic event full of tinsel, ‘weddings’ and Freddie Mercury!

The adjudicator faced an unenviable challenge in arriving at a decision, particularly given every House was certain they were the deserving winner. Our thanks go to our adjudicator Eleanor Minney, a professional mezzo-soprano, and permanent member of the BBC Singers who we like to think took away a few tips and had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

After much deliberation, Platt’s were announced in third place for their rendition of Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson, with the tinsel sparkling Cripps’ earning second place for their cover of Counting Stars by OneRepublic. Weymouth’s outstanding performance of Taylor Swift’s Love Story took the crown for their sleek performance; congratulations!
