The Magic Behind Year 7 James and the Giant Peach
A Giant Peach, A Giant Leap:
Year 7’s Magical Theatrical Journey
What do umbrellas, oversized insects and a group of enthusiastic Year 7 Wellingborough School pupils have in common?
They all came together to create a truly unforgettable production of James and the Giant Peach (Wood) by Roald Dahl.
Led by Co-curricular Drama Lead Clare Hayes, our talented cast and crew from Years 7 to 9 will be bringing the beloved story by Roald Dahl (adopted by David Wood) to life with colour, humour and heart.
“From the very first rehearsal, it was clear that this group of students were ready
to dive headfirst into the whimsical world of Roald Dahl.”
– Clare Hayes, Co-curricular Drama Lead
For many pupils, it’s their first time stepping into the spotlight or behind the scenes.
Whether acting, managing props, running sound and lighting or supporting backstage, every role plays a vital part in making the performance a success.
The crew’s dedication and teamwork mirroring the story’s own themes of friendship and finding strength in the unexpected.
This production not only showcases budding theatrical talent but highlights the value of co-curricular experiences in nurturing pupil growth here at Wellingborough School.
