Year 5 Visit Chester House

News 19.09.2023 Whole School

Year 5 pupils started their IPC topic for this half term – Time Tunnel – with a visit to the Chester House Estate.

The day started with pupils making a huge timeline which physically demonstrated just how recently events that seem ancient actually occurred, and how staggeringly long it is since people first started living in this area.

Pupils then used geophysical maps to explore the fields around the estate and to identify where Roman buildings would have stood.

Indoors, pupils visited the museum and enjoyed working together to make soap carvings and record their observations of ancient artefacts.

It was a very enjoyable day which involved lots of hands-on activities and provided an exciting introduction to chronology and the Time Tunnel unit.
