Old Wellingburians

David Clifton (63-74, St)
OW Club President 2017 - 2018

Welcome to the OW Club pages, and an especially warm welcome to all former members of the School.

The Old Wellingburian Club, formed in 1897, has an active body of supporters who are just as passionate about the School’s future as they are about its past. It provides a great opportunity to all former pupils, not only to enjoy a continuing and supportive relationship with the School, but also to keep in touch with friends and to meet and network with other OWs of all age groups.

An on-going challenge for the OW Club is to keep track of the whereabouts of its members. I am typical of many who have left the School since the 1960s/1970s, in that a combination of further education, professional career and family life have taken me some distance away from Wellingborough. Like many of you, I have nevertheless maintained very firm friendships with a good number of those I first came to know during my time at the School. Unfortunately, there are others I would love to see again, with whom both the OW Club and I have lost all contact. You may feel the same about some of your old school friends. I would like to encourage all OWs to provide updated contact details (including email addresses and, where applicable, maiden names) and their own news by visiting the Contact Us page within this section.

Over the next year, we hope to further improve our links with all alumni by increased use of social media, including the Club’s existing Twitter and Facebook accounts. They, and our pages in The Wellingburian, give an insight into all of the latest School events.

Within that same period, there are various OW Club functions taking place (including a dinner at The Charterhouse in London on 16 March 2018 and a dinner at the School on 10 November 2018) that are open to all OWs, and I hope to see as many of you as possible at those.

NB School leavers progress seamlessly into the OW Club, a lifetime subscription having been taken from fees paid during their time in the Senior School, unless a decision was taken to opt out of such a payment scheme. Wellingburians, who are not members of the Club and who would now like to join, should visit the Contact Us page within this section for advice.
